The Queensland Farmers’ Federation (QFF) has welcomed finalising of funding arrangements for the Federal Coalition’s $650,000 commitment to re-examine a visionary project that would divert south-east Queensland’s treated waste water for agricultural and industrial use.
A study on the feasibility of delivering recycled waters to the Lockyer Valley (fruits and vegetable) and the Darling Downs (cotton farms) from Brisbane via the Western Corridor Recycled Water Scheme. The decision to look again at recycled water for crops was also welcomed by Queensland Farmer's Federation president Stuart Armitage.
The project is predicted to deliver up to 100,000 megalitres of recycled water of the south-east Queensland's recycled water per year, for agricultural and industrial use.
